With thanks to the USPS, I have purged my closet of clothing I have not worn in at least 2 years and shipped them off to family for consideration to add to their closet. It is such a relief to rid my closet of the clutter that so desperately needed attention.
What remains will be stored in damask storage cubes, hung on plastic hangers or velvet hangers (from Target), and stored on shelves.
And a black velvet dry cleaning bag (found mine at Organize.com) will hang on a hook.
I've also ordered a storage ottoman with a patterned fabric in a neutral color.
This weekend involves removing the existing wire shelving, patching holes and painting. I'm still wall color-shopping and hope to come to a decision on Saturday. Fingers-crossed.
By the following weekend, I hope to have a brand new closet. (And if you are a Costco member, you get an extra discount plus free upgrades.)

Who would have ever thought that organizing and accessorizing a closet would be so gratifying. My guy emphasizes that this is only a closet and not a room that is lived in. Au contraire my dear, I do live in it. It takes time each morning to select what to wear. Followed by getting dressed and searching for shoes that coordinate with the outfit. This closet will be lived-in. :)
