Linen Storage & Care...

Today, I read with great interest an article on How to Organize Your Linens in The Washington Post's Home section.  It reaffirmed my feelings toward an organized closet, in particular, the linen closet.

I do need to make a couple adjustments.  One, is I need to remove the duster I currently store in our linen closet (I think the storage drawer containing the duster refills are OK to remain in the closet though).

And I should store our hand-held vacuum elsewhere too.

I've already reduced the number of "rags" I keep and I see an opportunity to utilize space bags in this closet for linens we do not use very often.

The next section of the article pertains to the proper care of linens where I learned white vinegar is the ideal "detergent" when washing your linens for the first time.  And do not use fabric softener and dryer sheets when when laundering your linens.  The chemicals will cause build up on them and shorten their lifespan.

The article also shares "white sale" resources in case you want to fill-up your linen closet with 300+ thread count sheets and Egyptian cotton towels.  Let me add that Macy's is also hosting a white sale too.  And I know this because I am dreaming of pearls, thanks to Barbara Barry.

Let's give 3 cheers to clean & crisp linens, organized closets and great white sales.  Let's not forget the Terri Sapienza and the Washington Post too for the inspiring article.
